Maui
Is Lahaina open to visitors? Yes. Front Street reopened to the public in August 2026, three years after the fire. Open restaurants cluster on the surviving north end, including Mala Ocean Tavern and Star Noodle, and the historic core is still rebuilding. Visiting and spending money there helps the town recover.

Where can we snorkel and see turtles? Black Rock, at the north end of Ka'anapali Beach, is the best easy snorkeling in West Maui and the most reliable turtle spot. Go early. Our Places page has the full local list.
Where should we watch the sunset? Ka'anapali Beach, ideally near Black Rock, where cliff divers jump at dusk. Or skip the walk and watch it from the lanai with dinner on the grill.
